Zelda Breath of the Wild guide: How to find Majora’s Mask in the Master Trials DLC

The Master Trials DLC brings Majora’s Mask and its associated “EX Treasure: Ancient Mask” side quest into The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Majora’s Mask is “an eerie mask passed down from ancient times. Wearing it makes it harder for certain enemies to spot you,” according to the item’s description. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find Majora’s Mask.

EX Treasure: Ancient Mask side quest

When you boot up Breath of the Wild after installing The Master Trials DLC, you’ll receive the “EX Treasure: Ancient Mask” side quest. Its text says:

The royal family of Hyrule collected historically significant outfits, but they were stolen by a bandit named Misko. On of the items stolen was an ancient mask.

There's a journal that places the location of this treasure somewhere in the Outpost Ruins…

Travel to the Great Plateau tower, the closest warp point to the journal.

How to find Majora’s Mask: The Great Plateau tower

Travel to the Great Plateau tower, the first tower you ascended in Breath of the Wild. At the top, face east toward the Dueling Peaks and paraglide off. Your destination is the southernmost part of the Outpost Ruins. (You can see the exact location and the path you’ll need to travel in the gallery above.)

In the Outpost Ruins, look for a book — Misko’s EX Journal — on a table against a wall. Read the book, which says (in part):

The ancient mask lies at the ruins where soldiers gathered. From there, the waters of Lake Kolomo are visible.

Reading Misko’s EX Journal will update your adventure log for all eight of the stolen relics — Majora’s Mask, the Tingle armor set, Midna’s Helmet and the Phantom armor set.

You’ll find a new waypoint in the “EX Treasure: Ancient Mask” side quest, which adds:

Misko's EX Journal gives the location of the ancient mask…but where could it be talking about?

The answer: On the south shore of Lake Kolomo, you’ll find Kolomo Garrison Ruins, northwest through the Forest of Time from your location at the Outpost Ruins. (Check out the image below to see the path you need to take.)

How to find Majora’s Mask: Kolomo Garrison Ruins

The treasure chest (marked with an “EX”) containing Majora’s Mask is buried in the ground around the corner from the westernmost doorway. Use magnesis to dislodge it. Opening it will complete the “EX Treasure: Ancient Mask” side quest.
