There’s no easy way to say this: You’re fighting a lynel on Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 17 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC. That’s a daunting task in the normal game, but in the resource-starved Trials of the Sword, it’s … well, it’s terrifying. Luckily, we’ve figured out how to do it. In this guide, we’ll teach you the process to make beating the lynel, if not easy, then much more manageable than it otherwise might be.
Underground Floor 17 walkthrough

To buy yourself time, turn to the right and head straight to the wall. The lynel will mostly ignore you. At the wall, turn left and head to the back. The lynel should still ignore you.
You’ll be swapping weapons a lot, so now is the time for one of those spicy meals. You need the freedom that cold resistance provides.
As you continue skirting around the room, you’ll find a block of ice at the back wall. Just equipping a fire-type weapon will slowly melt the ice, but you don’t have that kind of time. Drop some wood and start a fire. Just don’t get distracted by the pretty flames because the lynel will sneak up on you.
If you have the time, open the chest the ice reveals for five bomb arrows. If you don’t have time, don’t worry about the chest. Your first priority is that lynel. Fighting the lynel is going to nerve-wracking no matter what. Equip a good (or even your best) shield, a decent one-handed weapon (more on this in a minute) and steel yourself.

Your first job in this fight is just to survive. Avoid doing anything foolish and keep your shield up, keep moving ad try not to take a fireball to the face.
You also have to worry about dealing damage. And this is where it gets tricky. You’ll be fighting forever if you just chip away at the lynel with one hit at a time. You’re going to have to master the flurry rush.
The video above walks you through how to pull this off. You’re waiting for the moment immediately after the lynel starts its swing. Here’s the trick, though: Remember that only-decent one-handed weapon you have? Right in the middle of your backflip, switch weapons. Pick out your strongest, most damaging weapon. Use that while you’re in the middle of your flurry rush.
The important next step in this getting your shield back up. If you keep a one-handed weapon instead of switching out, this won’t be a problem. If you followed our advice above, you’re going to be mashing buttons. It’ll be stressful, but you’ll have time to put away your weapon and pull out your shield. This will get you ready for the lynel’s next attack.

Now you just have to do that many more times. Just remember: Survive first, then land a flurry rush. When you’re done, catch your breath, make sure you got that chest, then move on.
