Zelda Breath of the Wild guide: The Master Trials: Trial of the Sword: Final Trials walkthrough

Every floor, explained (with video, too)

Trial of the Sword’s Final Trials are something else entirely from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC’s Beginning Trials and Middle Trials. There’s a lot less room for error, and you’re up against the strongest enemies in the game.

The overarching theme for the Final Trials is this: Plan ahead. Plan way further ahead than you’re used to in the Trial of the Sword.

There are nearly infinite ways to approach Trial of the Sword’s Final Trials — even more so than the Beginning and Middle Trials. In this guide, we’ll offer you strategies for clearing every floor, with several goals assumed throughout: It’s best to save wear and tear on your weapons, be stealthy and find every item before you leave each Underground Floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 1

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 1 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is the beginning of several rain-themed levels.

Before we even begin here, let’s talk about how these first few rooms work. It’s storming, so that means you can’t equip anything metal without running the risk of being struck by lightning. That’s OK, though, because you’re only fighting one-hit enemies and literally anything you pick up is an effective weapon. That doesn’t mean you can ignore those metal weapons, though. In fact, you need to pick them up because you’re going to need them later when the environment changes.

You can’t even ignore the various rusty weapons and shields you see lying around. Seven floors in, you’ll run into a rock octorok. When you feed it all of the rusty items you find in the first five levels, it’ll spit out polished up versions. We’ll walk you through that process when you get there.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 1 walkthrough

You only have four stalkoblins (skeletal bokoblins) to deal with on Final Trials: Underground Floor 1, but that doesn’t mean you can just coast through. They might only have one hit point each (even though they require two hits to kill), but they’re well-armed. Couple that with being hobbled by the environment, and you just can’t let your guard down.

The first three stalkoblins will come at you almost as soon as you land. Since you’re unarmed, start by throwing a remote bomb. That should knock out at least a couple of them. Pick up a weapon (or a bokoblin arm), and go after them. Try to destroy every skull that hits the ground. If you don’t, that skull will end up on another skeleton and it’ll just add another hit you need to land to your total.

As you run away and maneuver to fight these first three, keep to the left side of the room — there’s an archer ahead of you and to the right a little that might notice you and make things difficult.

Once you’ve taken care of the first three and collected everything they drop (including their arms), you can work your way to the archer. He should be standing near a large tree that you can use for cover as you approach.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 1 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 1 armor and weapons
  • Spiked boko spear
  • Spiked boko bat
  • Spiked boko shield
  • Spiked boko bow
  • Arrows (in crates near archer)
  • Rusty claymore
  • Rusty halberd
  • Rusty broadsword
  • Rusty shield
Final Trials: Underground Floor 1 food
  • None
Final Trials: Underground Floor 1 treasure chest
  • None

Final Trials: Underground Floor 2

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 2 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC pits you against stalizalfos (skeletal lizalfos) this time, with a couple of electric keese thrown in for fun. In this guide, we’ll show you how to defeat them all with minimal wear and tear on your precious weapons — and how to find the hidden treasure chest.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 2 walkthrough

  1. Turn to the right to avoid the mouth of the cave. Use something long and pointy to take them out like a spear. You can even target them pretty easily with a bow or drop a remote bomb and detonate it near them.
  2. Summon a remote bomb and slowly head into the mouth of the skull-cave.
  3. Toss the bomb in from the mouth of the cave, then slowly follow it. When the stalizalfos pop out of the ground, detonate the bomb. Just make sure you’re out of the blast radius.
  4. Clean up the stalizalfos, then sweep around the inside of the cave for stuff to pick up.
  5. Go grab the treasure chest near a tree to the left of the skull-cave’s entrance, then you’re done.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 2 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 2 armor and weapons
  • Reinforced lizal shield
  • Lizal forked boomerang
  • Spiked boko spear x2
  • Arrows (crates in cave)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 2 food
  • Crates in cave
Final Trials: Underground Floor 2 treasure chest
  • Use magnesis to find the treasure chest buried in the ground to the left of the cave. You’ll find a royal guard’s sword inside.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 3

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 3 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a fight between you, two electric chuchus and five stalmoblins. Here’s the thing: You can do most of your fighting from the structure in the middle of the level (and get two treasure chests there, too). In this guide, we’ll show you how.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 3 walkthrough

  1. Loop around the tower in the middle of the room to the ramp at the back. You can take out the electric chuchus on your way past, but avoiding them for now lets them be useful later.
  2. When you come up to the upper platform of the tower, keep to the right and approach the treasure chest. This will trigger the five stalmoblins to climb out of the ground.
  3. Turn around and fire an arrow at one (or both) of the electric chuchus. When it explodes, it’ll shock the two stalmoblins coming at you from behind. A quick arrow shot to the head will drop one of them before the shock wears off. Then you can handle the other one one-on-one.
  4. Head back to the treasure chest. You can pick off the remaining stalmoblins from here. There are a couple tricky ways you can do this.
  5. Use magnesis on the other treasure chest and drop it on the ground next to the pile of bones. Since it’s metal, it’s going to struck by lightning soon. When it is, it’ll take out the stalmoblins nearby.
  6. If you’re more comfortable with arrows, just look for the horns sticking out of the piles of bones and shoot them.
  7. Make sure you’ve gotten both chests, then smash the barrels on the platform behind you for some arrows.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 3 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 3 armor and weapons
  • Spiked moblin spear
  • Spiked moblin club
  • Dragon bone boko bow
Final Trials: Underground Floor 3 food
  • None
Final Trials: Underground Floor 3 treasure chest
  • Knight’s shield
  • Knight’s bow

Final Trials: Underground Floor 4

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 4 is a battle between you and eight stalkoblins on stalhorses. In this level of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC, getting close to your enemies is the wrong approach and a recipe for losing hearts. Your remote bombs will make Underground Floor 4 easier to manage and keep you at a safe distance. In this guide, we’ll show you how it’s done.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 4 walkthrough

  1. The first five stalkoblins on stalhorses are going to notice you and bear down on you immediately. Toss a remote bomb into the group when they get near.
  2. Clean up any that didn’t get taken out by the bomb. Just try to avoid hitting or targeting the stalhorses — you can’t kill them and they just distract you from the stalkoblins.
  3. Pick up anything they drop (and they’ll drop a lot), then turn and head toward the northeast corner.
  4. In the northeast corner of the room, there are three more mounted stalkoblins armed with bows. And one of them is firing shock arrows. Climb the wall between you and your enemies. They’ll charge when they see you.
  5. Use a remote bomb from the safety of the top of the wall to knock the mounted stalkoblins off of their horses, and jump down to finish them off.
  6. Sweep the room for crates to smash. There are a couple wooden crates in some ruins to the northwest, two more wooden crates on the north side of a wall in the middle of the room and two metal crates on a platform on the right side of the room.

If you find yourself in a tight spot during either of these fights, you can shoot the (stal)horse instead of the stalkoblin. This lets you be a little sloppy and will still pop its head off the same way hitting the stalkoblin itself would.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 4 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 4 armor and weapons
  • Dragonbone boko bat
  • Boko spear
  • Dragonbone boko club
  • Dragonbone boko spear
  • Spiked boko bow
  • Arrows (metal crates on platform on the right)
  • Shock arrows (wooden crates in middle of room)
  • Rusty halberd
  • Rusty broadsword
  • Rusty shield
Final Trials: Underground Floor 4 food
  • Crates (in ruined structure in the northwest)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 4 treasure chest
  • None

Final Trials: Underground Floor 5

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 5 is a battle between you a lone stalnox. In this level of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC, it’s all about stasis, your bow and arrow and a weapon of your choosing. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat the stalnox and where to find the hidden treasure chest.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 5 walkthrough

This hinox fight is a bit different than the previous two. First, and most obviously, it’s a stalnox. Second, it doesn’t have those annoying metal leg warmers. And finally, you’ve got much better and more easily accessible cover.

  1. Equip your best bow, a good shield and a strong weapon.
  2. The stalnox isn’t sleeping, so you don’t have any time to prepare on this floor. Just line up a bow shot its eye and knock it down.
  3. Get a couple hits in on the stalnox.
  4. While the stalnox is facing you, use stasis to freeze it.
  5. Shoot it in the eye with an arrow.
  6. If you’d rather not use stasis, you can make your way to the northeast corner of the room. Climb up the rock shelter there. (You might slip, but just keep at it.) With this loop, you’re (relatively) safe and you’ll deal damage pretty quickly, making this a (relatively) quick sub-boss fight.
  7. Jump off, use bullet time to target the stalnox’s eye, rush in to deal some damage, then run around the shelter and climb to the top again.
  8. Repeat until the stalnox’s eye pops out.
  9. When it does, pick it up and toss it away from the stalnox. (It’s weaker when it’s loose and you need distance to deal damage.)
  10. Grab a good weapon and just go wild. If you’re using a two-handed weapon, you’ve got a chance to hit it a little further away, but get fewer hits in. If you’re using a one-handed weapon, you’ll deal more damage but end up chasing it as it rolls back to the skeleton.
  11. When the stalnox puts its eye back in the socket, start back on the stasis or shelter jumping loop. That’s all there is.
  12. When you finally destroy it, grab the three weapons it drops (listed below). Those are going to be invaluable in a little while. If you’ve maxed out your inventory, drop any bokoblin (or whatever) arms or the weaker wooden (flamable) weapons you have. (Trust us on that last one.)
  13. Use magnesis to unearth the buried treasure chest behind one of the rock shelters. (See the image in the next section for the exact location.)

Final Trials: Underground Floor 5 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 5 armor and weapons
  • Great frostblade
  • Thunderblade
  • Flamespear
  • Arrows (metal crates in rock shelter)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 5 food
  • None
Final Trials: Underground Floor 5 treasure chest
The treasure chest in Underground Floor 5 (the one with the stalnox)
  • Ice arrow x5

Final Trials: Underground Floor 6

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 6 is another oasis level. You’re here to collect some prizes and cook some meals in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find the fairy, all of the items and cook the best meals.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 6 walkthrough

  1. There’s one fairy at the back of the room. Crouch and go retrieve it. You can cook with it if you really want to, but it’s probably best to keep in your pocket for an emergency.
  2. Collect everything. EVERYTHING.
  3. Just like in the Beginning and Middle Trials, the standard rules apply: Use five ingredients at a time whenever you can, don’t mix effects and cook everything.
  4. Cook the hearty truffles by themselves for two meals that restore all hearts. A meal using the razorshrooms will give you an attack boost, and the armored carps will get you a defense boost.
  5. When you’re done cooking, put on your new flamebreaker boots, and head to the portal.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 6 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 6 armor and weapons
  • Arrows in crates behind chests
Final Trials: Underground Floor 6 food
  • Fairy
  • Crates behind chests
  • Armored carp (water on left)
  • Razorshrooms (next to cooking fire)
  • Apples
  • Hearty truffles (back of room on left)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 6 treasure chest
  • Flamebreaker boots
  • Knight’s bow
  • Ancient arrows x3

Final Trials: Underground Floor 7

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 7 is the first in a series of hot levels in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC. The protection you get from the flamebreaker boots makes this a pretty straightforward level, but there’s a twist to it. In this guide, we’ll show you how it’s done.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 7 walkthrough

  1. Equip the great frostblade you picked up from the stalnox back on Final Trials: Underground Floor 5 and a decent shield.
  2. Shoot the fire chuchu with an arrow to get it out of your way. (You could also run up and hit it with your frostblade, but it’s easier to just shoot it.)
  3. Turn to the left and ride the updraft over to the small island. Grab the rusty claymore, then return to the main path.
  4. Use remote bombs to destroy the two igneo pebblits.
  5. When the rock octorok is the only enemy left, go into your menu and drop the rusty things you’ve picked up since the beginning of the Final Trials — one at a time, or it won’t work.
  6. About halfway back down the path, stand in front of the rock octorok with your shield raised. The rock octorok will suck in the weapons when it inhales, then it will spit out refurbished versions for you to collect. (You can see us doing that over and over in the video above, for an idea of what you’ll collect.) Also, if you hide off to the side instead, you run the risk of losing the new weapons in the lava.
  7. Repeat this process for all of the rusty weapons and shields you’ve picked up.
  8. Toss a remote bomb for the rock octorok, and blow it up to finish off the level.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 7 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 7 armor and weapons
  • Rusty claymore
Final Trials: Underground Floor 7 food
  • None
Final Trials: Underground Floor 7 treasure chest
  • None
Final Trials: Underground Floor 7 rock octorok refurbished weapons

When you feed weapons to a rock octorok, you’ll get back a similar type of weapon (swords become swords, but never spears) of a random quality (meh, good or best). Below, you can see a list of what we fed to the octorok and the variety of weapons we got back. You can also watch how we did this in the gif below.

  • Rusty broadsword > traveler’s sword, solider’s broadsword or knight’s broadsword
  • Rusty claymore > soldier’s claymore or knight’s claymore
  • Rusty halberd > traveler’s spear, soldier’s spear or royal halberd
  • Rusty shield > soldier’s shield

When you’re done, you’ve got (up to) eight new weapons to deal with. Frankly, some of them aren’t worth it. Traveler’s weapons aren’t really going to help you that much. And you’re going to continue to pick up better weapons as you continue through the floors. Don’t think you have to keep these just because you put in so much work to get them. It’s a roll of the dice, so the weapon you get back might be worth keeping or dropping.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 8

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 8 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a fight between you and three lizalfos. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all without even touching them and, of course, where where to find this level’s items.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 8 walkthrough

  1. Equip a good bow and your great frostblade.
  2. Jump into the updraft ahead of you and a little to the left. Ride the updraft toward the island/pillar to the left.
  3. Either use bullet time to take out the lizalfos with headshots (it’ll take four shots with your best bow) or you can stun it with a headshot, then take him out with one swing of your frostblade.
  4. Repeat this process — either headshots or stuns and single swings — to take out the other two lizalfos.
  5. Use magnesis to smash the two metal crates. Just make sure you drop them on a flat surface — like the middle of the pillar — or they’ll bounce into the lava.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 8 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 8 armor and weapons
  • Strengthened lizal bow x3
  • Fire arrows (metal crate)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 8 food
  • Metal crate (this food is already cooked)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 8 treasure chest
  • None

Final Trials: Underground Floor 9

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 9 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a fight between you, a fire wizzrobe, two lizalfos and a moblin. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all (in an absurdly easy way) and where to find this level’s items.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 9 walkthrough

  1. Turn to your left a little and focus on the fire wizzrobe first. Freeze it in place with stasis. You can take it out with a single ice arrow (that you picked up from the chest back on Underground Floor 5).
  2. Approach the skull-cave as quietly as you can (or care to). You have a few choices for finishing off the moblin and two lizalfos inside. Climb up on the face and toss remote bombs through the eye socket over and over. Or shoot the lizalfos with one ice arrow each, then handle the moblin with regular arrows or bombs. Or you can just run in swinging your great frostblade.
  3. Smash the metal crates inside the cave and clean up any weapons the bad guys dropped.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 9 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 9 armor and weapons
  • Meteor rod
  • Enhanced lizal spear
  • Lizal forked boomerang
  • Reinforced lizal shield
  • Iron sledgehammer
  • Arrows (metal crate in the cave)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 9 food
  • Metal crates in cave
Final Trials: Underground Floor 9 treasure chest
  • None

Final Trials: Underground Floor 10

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 10 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a fight between you, lizalfos and moblins. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all and where to find this level’s items and hidden treasure chest.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 10 walkthrough

  1. Run straight forward and jump into the updraft. Use bullet time to shoot an arrow at the lizalfos waiting for you on the next pillar. Either shoot it a bunch (four times) or land and hit it once with your frostblade.
  2. This pillar is where you’ll launch your remaining attacks. Either arc arrows down onto the two moblins you can see, or ride the updraft to land some bullet time hits on them. You’re relatively safe here on this pillar, so you can take your time with your attacks.
  3. If you don’t feel like using that many arrows, you can paraglide down to the bottom of the tower and sneak your way up, taking the moblins out with sneak attacks as you find them like we did in the video above.
  4. You’re not going to be able to take out the last moblin from the far platform with arrows, so paraglide over to the tower. You’ll land on the middle platform. Collect any weapons you see, then crouch and start making your way up.
  5. If you land a really good (perfect and unexpected) shot, you can take it out with one headshot. Otherwise, stun it with a headshot, then keep sneaking up. If you’re really careful (and lucky), you’ll be able to land a sneak attack before the fight gets too intense.
  6. Once the final moblin is dead, clear out any crates on your way back down the tower. On the ground at the bottom, fire up your magnesis and pull the treasure chest out of the lava. (Don’t worry too much about missing any of these weapons, say, because you knocked a moblin into the lava. You’re pretty well-armed already and taking out the moblins fast is better than one more weapon.)

Final Trials: Underground Floor 10 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 10 armor and weapons
  • Strengthened lizal bow
  • Royal guard’s spear
  • Steel lizal bow
  • Knight’s claymore
  • Arrows (metal crate)
  • Fire arrows (metal crate)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 10 food
  • Metal crate
Final Trials: Underground Floor 10 treasure chest
  • Ancient arrows x3

Final Trials: Underground Floor 11

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 11 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a fight between you and an igneo talus. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat it (easily!). Seriously: With the right strategy and equipment, this fight can will be over before you know it. In this guide, we’ll show you how to do it.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 11 walkthrough

  1. If you want to ride the updrafts, blow up the piles of rocks in the southeast and northwest corners. This helps (a little), but it’s by no means a requirement.
  2. Get close to the igneo talus and trigger it to stand up.
  3. Your first job is to cool it off so you can climb it. Hit it with your great frostblade or an ice arrow (if you have any left).
  4. All that’s left is to climb on top, equip a really strong two-handed weapon — that iron sledgehammer you picked up on Underground Floor 9 works great here — lock on and spin until the talus drops.
  5. If you ever get thrown off, hit it with another ice attack and repeat the climb-and-spin.
  6. Use magnesis or your sledgehammer to break the metal crates for some arrows.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 11 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 11 armor and weapons
  • Arrows (metal crates)
Final Trials: Underground Floor 11 food
  • None
Final Trials: Underground Floor 11 treasure chest
  • None

Final Trials: Underground Floor 12

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 12 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is another oasis level (but not the last oasis level). In this guide, we’ll show you how to find the items, collect the fairies and cook the best meals.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 12 walkthrough

  1. Immediately crouch and head to the back to collect the two fairies.
  2. Collect everything.
  3. Cook the hearty radish by itself. This will give you a meal that will restore all of your hearts, plus one more.
  4. Cook the sizzlefin trouts with a couple of the spicy peppers for a long-lasting cold resistance meal.
  5. Cook up the rest of your items following our usual rules: Use five ingredients at a time whenever you can, don’t mix effects and cook everything.
  6. Put on your new shirt and head for the portal.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 12 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

  • Hearty radish
  • Stamella shroom x2
  • Apples
Final Trials: Underground Floor 12 treasure chest
  • Royal guard’s shield
  • Stone smasher
  • Hylian tunic

Final Trials: Underground Floor 13

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 13 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a fight between you and an ice chuchu, three bokoblins and a pair of frost pebbits. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all and where to find this level’s items.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 13 walkthrough

The next set of rooms are all cold-weather environments. You have two choices for how to deal with them. Either eat one of the cold-resistance meals you cooked or equip a fire-based weapon. The meal means you’ll have freedom to use any weapon without taking cold damage. A fire weapon means you don’t have to waste a healing meal if you don’t need it, you can save those cold-resist meals for other levels and you can take your time exploring the levels.

  1. Walk forward and take out the two frost pebblits. Use a remote bomb or a fire weapon to knock them out, then pick them up and toss them.
  2. Shoot the ice chuchu before it gets too close.
  3. Head to the corner of the room to the right of where you begin. Melt the ice you find there to reveal a treasure chest with five bomb arrows. (If you’ve got a fire weapon, you just need to stand near the ice for a while — you don’t even have to swing your weapon. You can also build a campfire next to it.)
  4. There are three bokoblins around the remains of a cooking fire in the northwest corner of the room. Climb up one of the hills beyond the treasure chest without attracting their attention. Use one of the bomb arrows you just picked up to helpfully light the cooking fire for the bokoblins.
  5. You’re safe from the hills around the treasure chest, so keep sniping and clean up any of them that survive and collect their weapons.
  6. Smash the wooden crates next to the fire and quickly pick up any food before it freezes. With the cooking pot’s fire you just lit, you can whip up another meal.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 13 armor, weapons and food

Nearly every underground floor in Trial of the Sword includes some combination of armor, weapons and food that you should collect before leaving and use in subsequent levels. Here’s what you can find in this underground floor.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 13 armor and weapons
  • Spiked boko spear
  • Steel lizal shield
  • Lizal tri-boomerang
  • Spiked boko bow
Final Trials: Underground Floor 13 food
  • Crates next to fire
Final Trials: Underground Floor 13 treasure chest
  • Bomb arrows (under ice in a corner)

Final Trials: Underground Floor 14

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 14 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a battle between you and blue bokoblin archers, two ice chuchus, a lizalfos and a silver moblin. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all and where to find this level’s items and treasure chest.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 14 walkthrough

  1. Turn to the left as soon as you land and put the hill between you and the tower in the middle of the room. Climb slowly up until you can see the tower and the blue bokoblin looking at/for you. Use a good bow to arc an arrow into his face for a one-shot kill.
  2. Continue to the southwest corner of the room, then skirt up the left side of the room. In the northwest corner, you’ll find a block of ice. Melt it — either by standing nearby with a fire weapon or creating a fire — to unblock an updraft.
  3. Use the updraft to bullet time the two bokoblins on the middle level of the tower. You can also maneuver around the tower on the ground to get shots on them, but it’s much less reliable.
  4. There are two ice chuchus and a lizalfos at the base of the tower, but you can ignore them for now. Continue to skirt around the room and you’ll find another block of ice with a chest inside in the northeast corner. Melt it to collect some ancient arrows. You’re not going to use them, though (see our note below).
  5. Now you can take out the ice chuchus and the lizalfos. The lizalfos will drop with a single hit from a fire weapon or a fire arrow.
  6. There’s another blocked updraft on the side of the room near where you started. Go unblock it now to use in your fight against the silver bokoblin at the top of the tower.
  7. You can use the updrafts to launch a series of bullet time attacks, but that will take a lot of arrows. Instead, use the first updraft to position yourself for a sneak attack on the silver moblin. You can retreat to the updrafts to reposition, or just press the fight on foot.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 15

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 15 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is just a fight between you and a wizzrobe, a black moblin and two blue and one silver bokoblins. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all and where to find this level’s items. You’ve got a variety of enemies to face this time, so it’s important to handle them separately so they don’t all gang up on you.

Underground Floor 15 walkthrough

  1. Walk forward and climb up the wall dividing the room. Use stasis to freeze the ice wizzrobe dancing around ahead of you, then hit it with a fire arrow.
  2. Stick to the left side of the room to avoid the notice of the bokoblins. Start your attack on the moblin by shooting the explosive barrel with a fire arrow. It won’t kill it, but it’s a start.
  3. Either stay on the wall and toss remote bombs at him, or use bullet time to keep raining arrows down on him. Retreat and repeat the bullet time trick, or press the fight hand-to-hand.
  4. Now you have to take on the three bokoblins — one of which is a super tough silver bokoblin. You can try to sneak around to the right side of the room and steal their weapons, which will make the fight a lot easier. It sure looks possible, but we never had any luck with that approach.
  5. Instead, climb the stone pillar next to them and throw remote bombs down. You can also jump off and bullet time some arrows into them.
  6. Smash the barrels and crates near the bokbolins’ fire, sweep for weapons, then head to the portal.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 16

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 16 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is just a fight between you and a frost talus. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat it (easily!). Seriously: If you do it right, this is a two-step fight — a minor speed bump between you and the next level.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 16 walkthrough

This is the second to last cold level, so if you have any cold-resistance meals, feel free to eat one now. You’ll need to have a strong weapon, so you can’t rely on your flamespear to keep you warm this time.

We’re not even going to include a gallery this time. The GIF below is in real time and covers the entire fight. You’ve got this.

  1. The chunks of ice around the outside of the room are all updrafts, so you can ignore them if you want to. You don’t really need them. But to make this fight even easier, we suggest unblocking one of them.
  2. You’ll need to land at least one hit against the frost talus with a fire-type weapon. You’ve got a few choices here — the meteor rod from Underground Floor 9, your flamespear from Underground Floor 5 or any fire arrows you’ve picked up.
  3. Use the updraft to get a bullet time shot with a fire arrow. There’s almost no chance of missing and you’re out of reach of the talus. And then you just have to paraglide down right on top of the talus.
  4. Equip the stone smasher you got on Underground Floor 12, lock on to the talus’ ore deposit and spin away. The stone smasher is strong enough that you should kill it with one spinning session.
  5. There’s nothing else to find in here, so you’re good to leave once the frost talus is dead.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 17

There’s no easy way to say this: You’re fighting a lynel on Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 17 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC. That’s a daunting task in the normal game, but in the resource-starved Trials of the Sword, it’s … well, it’s terrifying. Luckily, we’ve figured out how to do it. In this guide, we’ll teach you the process to make beating the lynel, if not easy, then much more manageable than it otherwise might be.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 17 walkthrough

There are two ways to handle this fight. You can check out our walkthrough below and duke it out with the lynel (the Long Way below). However, there’s a much, much smarter way to handle this (the Short Way).

Short Way

Shoot it with an ancient arrow.

That’s it. You can even hit it with stasis first to make sure you don’t miss.

We’ve been talking about those ancient arrows since you picked up the first of them back on floor 6. You’ve got nine of them in your inventory at this point and only seven levels (including this one) to go. This feels a little cheap, but it’s really just a smart use of the tools you have available.

Using an ancient arrow means that you one-shot the lynel, but the weapons and shield it drops disappear. That’s honestly a really good trade-off. They’re good weapons, but you really don’t need the stress of fighting this thing.

After you’re done, skim through the beginning of the Long Way version below for how to find this level’s treasure chest.

Long Way

To buy yourself time, turn to the right and head straight to the wall. The lynel will mostly ignore you. At the wall, turn left and head to the back. The lynel should still ignore you.

You’ll be swapping weapons a lot, so now is the time for one of those spicy meals. You need the freedom that cold resistance provides.

As you continue skirting around the room, you’ll find a block of ice at the back wall. Just equipping a fire-type weapon will slowly melt the ice, but you don’t have that kind of time. Drop some wood and start a fire. Just don’t get distracted by the pretty flames because the lynel will sneak up on you.

If you have the time, open the chest the ice reveals for five bomb arrows. If you don’t have time, don’t worry about the chest. Your first priority is that lynel. Fighting the lynel is going to nerve-wracking no matter what. Equip a good (or even your best) shield, a decent one-handed weapon (more on this in a minute) and steel yourself.

Your first job in this fight is just to survive. Avoid doing anything foolish and keep your shield up, keep moving ad try not to take a fireball to the face.

You also have to worry about dealing damage. And this is where it gets tricky. You’ll be fighting forever if you just chip away at the lynel with one hit at a time. You’re going to have to master the flurry rush.

The video above walks you through how to pull this off. You’re waiting for the moment immediately after the lynel starts its swing. Here’s the trick, though: Remember that only-decent one-handed weapon you have? Right in the middle of your backflip, switch weapons. Pick out your strongest, most damaging weapon. Use that while you’re in the middle of your flurry rush.

The important next step in this getting your shield back up. If you keep a one-handed weapon instead of switching out, this won’t be a problem. If you followed our advice above, you’re going to be mashing buttons. It’ll be stressful, but you’ll have time to put away your weapon and pull out your shield. This will get you ready for the lynel’s next attack.

Now you just have to do that many more times. Just remember: Survive first, then land a flurry rush. When you’re done, catch your breath, make sure you got that chest, then move on.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 19

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 19 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is just a fight between you and six decayed guardians. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all and where to find this level’s items and treasure chest.

Underground Floor 19 starts a new themed series of rooms. This series starts off as just you versus guardians and finishes with you versus the kitchen sink.

Before we start the walkthrough, let’s talk about how you’re going to take on this level. You want to fight these guardians one at a time — or at least pretend to. There’s a simple process to the fights. It’s the same process you used back in the Middle Trials: Underground Floor 4. You’re going to shoot it in the eye and then you’re going to hit it a bunch.

That’s it. Don’t think about any of the other guardians. Just poke it in the eye and start swinging.

You might remember that you’ve still got eight ancient arrows to use. We’re not there quite yet. It’s better to hold onto them for just a little longer.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 19 walkthrough

  1. The first decayed guardian is at the far end of the room straight ahead of you. Use the large tree — not the small trees — for cover. You can even climb the tree and jump out of it to bullet time your first shot. Stun it, attack a bunch, then take a step back and repeat the entire process. It’s tempting to run away when the guardian locks on to you, but don’t. When it’s locked on, it’s not moving. That’s your perfect time to poke it in the eye again.
  2. When the first decayed guardian explodes, two more will activate. They’re all the way back across the room at the far end. Use everything between you and them for cover. There are lots of trees and a few guardians that’ll protect you. Pick one of the guardians, get close, and repeat the same process. If you’re still getting targeted by the other guardian, get between the wall and the guardian. The one you’re fighting will provide cover.
  3. Repeat the process one more time. When the second guardian blows up, the last three will activate. That’s scary, but you’ve already done this three times.
  4. Just keep at it. Use trees for cover and to let you get a bullet time shot or two off. Use the guardian you’re fighting as cover against the rest.
  5. When you’re done fighting the guardians, activate magnesis to find a buried treasure chest in the middle of the room.
  6. There’s nothing else to pick up, so head to the portal.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 20

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 20 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is just a fight between you and a guardian stalker. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat it — in either of two ways depending on your inventory and preference — and where to find this level’s items.

This time, there’s only one guardian stalker to deal with. Sure, it’s walking around, but you just fought six in a row. What’s one more? The first step in this floor is to take a deep breath.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 20 walkthrough

  1. Head straight for the fountain in the middle. Smash the barrels and the crates for the arrows inside.
  2. Climb either the fountain or the large tree and jump off to start the fight. Use bullet time to shoot it in the eye and stun it.
  3. Try to focus on the legs. Damage them enough, and they’ll break. This will hobble it and keep the guardian from chasing you. This guardian isn’t polite enough to just sit still while you shoot it in the eye.
  4. Use the trees, the fountain and even the brushfires the guardian’s eye-blast starts to get another bullet time shot off.
  5. Use stasis to lock it into place while you line up your shot.
  6. Just keep repeating that process. We believe in you.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 21

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 21 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is just a fight between you and a guardian skywatcher. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat it and where to find this level’s items and treasure chest.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 21 walkthrough

  1. Guardian skywatchers suck.
  2. Seriously. They suck a lot.
  3. Run forward, taking care to avoid the gaze of the skywatcher. Climb to the top of the tower in the center of the room and open the chest.
  4. Paraglide down and use bullet time to shoot an ancient arrow into the skywatcher’s eye. You do have to shoot it in the eye, though. The ancient arrow does a lot of damage, but not enough to one-shot the skywatcher unless you shoot it in the eye. (This brings you down to seven ancient arrows, but you only have five tough enemies left.)
  5. If you don’t have ancient arrows, use bomb arrows to shoot its propellers from you vantage point at the top of the pillars. They’ll eventually fall off, and the skywatcher will fall to the ground for you to destroy.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 21 armor, weapons and food

Final Trials: Underground Floor 22

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 22 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is just a fight between you and three guardians — a guardian skywatcher, stalker and turret. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all and where to find this level’s items.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 22 walkthrough

  1. Head forward to the ruined structure ahead of you. There are tiny doors for you to get inside.
  2. Open the treasure chest for the royal bow, then climb the ladder on the left to the top of the structure’s walls. Open that treasure chest as well for a royal shield.
  3. The skywatcher will be circling very close to you. Shoot it in the eye with an ancient arrow.
  4. The guardian turret has a good line of sight on you, so why not take that one out next? Head toward it’s tower, avoiding and evading the guardian stalker on the way.
  5. Climb up the tower. You can take out the guardian turret however you want. You can one-shot it with another ancient arrow or you can take it out the old-fashioned way — poke it in the eye with an arrow and hit it a bunch.
  6. All that’s left now is that guardian stalker. You can paraglide down and shoot it in the eye with another ancient arrow. If you really, really want to fight it out, go for it in the same way as Underground Floor 20. But you don’t have to. You still have more ancient arrows than tough enemies left in these trials.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 23

Trial of the Sword: Final Trials: Underground Floor 23 in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s The Master Trials DLC is a fight between you and a white-maned lynel, a guardian turret and a herd of horse-mounted bokoblins. In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat them all and where to find this level’s items and treasure chest.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 23 walkthrough

This is it. You made it to the end. And the Trail of the Sword saved the best for last. You get a little bit of everything this time, and you’re going to be very happy we told you to save those ancient arrows.

Everything is going to see you as soon as you land. That’s a problem, but it’s OK. You’ve got this.

  1. Ignore the bokoblins and head straight for the white-maned lynel. This serves two purposes: It keeps you from getting shot by the turret, and it gets you close to your first target.
  2. Shoot the lynel with an ancient arrow. You can lock it in place with stasis if you’ve got the time, or you can just take the shot.
  3. Drop some remote bombs as you serpentine your way toward the guardian’s tower. Detonate them behind you to take out some of the bokoblins that are chasing you.
  4. Climb up the tower and shoot the guardian turret with another ancient arrow. You can fight it the long way if you really want, but this is the end of the trials, so why save them?
  5. Glide down to the ruins in the middle of the room. There’s a treasure chest and a couple of crates. The crates will get you some arrows and there are bomb arrows in the chest.
  6. Now it’s just you and the bokoblins. And you just got some shiny, new bomb arrows. Be a shame not to use them.

Final Trials: Underground Floor 23 armor, weapons and food

We’ll list some of them here, but the weapons and items in this level are about to disappear anyway. Use up everything you’ve got, and don’t worry about planning ahead any more.
