Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus boss battle guide — Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

The sixth boss battle in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is against a massive sea beast called the Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus. This monster smashes through the Sandship before you fight it on the deck.

Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus, Phase 1

In the monster’s first phase, use Skyward Strikes to slash its tentacles before the boss makes itself vulnerable.

Throughout the first phase of the Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus boss battle, the creature sends multiple tentacles through the floor. Charge up a Skyward Strike and run along the deck and horizontally slash at the arms to cut them. Keep moving so you don’t get grabbed by a tentacle.

After hitting a few of them, the boss emerges from the water to perform an overhead strike.

Dodge the slow attack and, while the boss is recovering, take out your bow and shoot Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus in the eye, which causes it to drop its head onto the deck. Run between its hair-like tentacles, and repeatedly slash its eye.

Repeat this process a few times before the next phase.

Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus, Phase 2

Before the start of the second phase of the boss battle, Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus slams the deck. This tantrum causes the deck to fall apart and knocks a box from a platform above you down onto the deck. Climb the box, and head to the higher area.

As the second phase begins, the boss sends out snake-like tentacles at you. Slash at these normally until the boss roars and temporarily stops attacking. Take this opportunity to shoot its eye.

Once again, the boss will drop its head onto the ship. Run between its hair-like tentacles and repeatedly slash at its eye.

Repeat this process until you’ve defeated the Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus.
